HUS Winery

Brand: HUS

HUS Winery is a family winery founded in 2018 by Juan Pablo Diaz Leon and Ceylan Ertörer Diaz Leon in Urla, just outside of Izmir. HUS believes in making wines that are a true reflection of their origins, shaped by the land, the climate, and the people who tend them.

The story of HUS begins with migration and memory. Ceylan's grandmother arrived in Urla from Crete during the population exchange of 1923. The family built their livelihood from the land, and Ceylan's parents, raised in that farming tradition, planted vines in 1996. Ceylan is the third generation of her family raised in Urla.

Ceylan studied industrial engineering with no intention of returning to viticulture. But in 2012, she came home to care for her mother during an illness. That same year, she met Juan on a trip to Montreal. Juan, originally from Chile, came from a family with deep roots in viticulture, yet neither he nor Ceylan had imagined pursuing it themselves. He eventually followed Ceylan to Turkey.

When Ceylan's mother passed away, the vines she had planted with her own hands stood unattended. Years later, Ceylan brought Juan to those vineyards for the first time. Standing at a point overlooking the rows, Juan was struck, as if discovering a long-lost treasure. In that moment, a shared dream quietly took root.

HUS Winery was born from that dream. On October 21, 2021, Juan passed away. Ceylan continues to honor the vision they built together, producing wines of deep personal meaning from the vines her mother planted decades ago.
